In the summer of 2009, like so many others, the Great Recession hit me hard. I was the victim of a lay off from a real estate development firm, where I was in-house counsel. The only jobs available were in bankruptcy or litigation, which were not my areas of expertise. Yet, as a single mom of two teenage sons, I was under pressure to provide for my family.  So, I pulled up the old bootstraps, set up a home office in a small corner of my home, printed business cards, designed a website on GoDaddy and became my own boss lady! Thanks to my family, friends and colleagues, the referrals started to come in and, thankfully, continue to this day.

One of my first clients that was referred to me 10 years ago, remains on my roster to this very day. It’s a large perfume retailer with more than 100 stores nationwide for which I handle the commercial leasing.  In addition to the perfume company, I have represented rock miners, real estate developers, psychiatrists, restaurants, doctors, kiteboarding companies, SIM card manufacturers, massage therapists and a multitude of other businesses. I have successfully won coveted airport leases for my restaurant clients and assisted numerous clients with other government contracts and certifications, helping them to build their own businesses.  I am grateful to all the clients I have serviced throughout the years and continue to service now. Without them, I wouldn’t still be standing.

I’m also grateful and proud of my team, including Zach Evangelista, who will one day take over, and Jessica Treto, who is my right and left hand. Plus our Of-Counsels and contract attorneys who help us provide our clients with a one-stop-shop approach by offering specialty legal services by attorneys with over decades of experience.

I look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries of Ser & Associates.  And to that end, I commit to you that we will continue to:

  1. Provide quality services in an efficient manner
  2. Remain relevant to the business owner
  3. Be competitive in the market by keeping our fees down
  4. Continue to devise plans and programs to make legal services more affordable and accessible to small and mid-size business owners so they can get the proper guidance they need and avoid getting themselves into a pickle or breaking the bank
  5. Grow our referral networks and partners to ensure their continued growth, along with ours
  6. Continue to grow our participation in the communities we serve

From the bottom of my heart, I say THANK YOU  to every client that we have served. Every person who has sent us a referral. Every consultant who has provided sound advice on how to improve our systems and marketing efforts. Our family and friends, for their continued support. And to you, our faithful follower, reading this long blog right now and for following us on all of our social media platforms.

With gratitude,
Lilly
